DSR Demolition have recently taken delivery of the first of two Komatsu PC210LCD-8 excavators. The 22 tonne PC210LC-8 is one of our most popular excavators and these demolition specification models, are built specifically for the demolition industry. They incorporate a number of features such as additional upper body protection and safety features, such as mounted cab guards.
DSR Demolition who are based in Rotherham, operate throughout the UK and overseas. The company who over 30 years demolition experience offer a complete range of demolition and site clearance services for all types of buildings and structures and have worked with a diverse range of clients, such as Local Authorities, the NHS and private Land Developers. DSR Demolition already operate two Komatsu excavators a 13 tonne PC138US-8 and a 35 tonne PC350LC-8. Simon Ogden Contract Director for DSR Demolition has been pleased with both machines; ‘We have had the PC138US-8 for three years, whilst we purchased the PC350LC-8 last year. Both machines have performed well and we have not had any major problems with either of them. The PC138 has been particularly useful with its short tail swing, for those jobs where space has been at a premium and has been easy to transport between sites. The PC350 has a reach of 22m for high reach demolition work, but we also purchased a separate digger arm for this machine. This makes it more versatile and productive for us. The arms can be comfortably changed over within 90 minutes. We have also found that the Komtrax remote monitoring system fitted as standard on both machines has been particularly useful in providing valuable information about the performance of the machines, in terms of fuel useage and working times’.
Commenting on the new PC210’s that have been bought Simon added; ‘With emission regulations (especially within the M25 orbital area) becoming ever more stringent, we needed to look at bringing in some new machines with cleaner engines. Already having experience of running Komatsu machines, meant that we would be interested in looking at them again. We did also talk to some other suppliers. But some offered to modify an existing excavator for demolition, whereas Komatsu already offered a full demolition specification excavator, which met our requirements. Coupled with a competitive price and the fact that it is produced in the North East, supporting British jobs, then Komatsu was again a natural choice for us’.
The first PC210LC-8 was quickly put out to work on the demolition
of some old council offices in Doncaster Town Centre:
