The new website has been re-designed to give it a more modern and clean look, with lots of product imagery throughout. It will also be far easier for it display correctly on mobile devices such as smart phones and iPads.
Essentially the navigation of the new website is the same as the old website, so finding your way around shouldn’t be a problem. More product information and photos are now available and these will be further expanded upon in the coming weeks. Listed below are the main changes to the website functionality:
Website address
The website has a new address of www.marubeni-komatsu.co.uk. Visitors who go to the old website at www.mkl.co.uk will be automatically redirected onto the new website.
Search facility
There is a comprehensive search facility located in the header area of the website. Simply start typing in the search box a word or phrase and if they exist within the website then a number of corresponding suggestions will appear as a drop down list. These suggestions are illustrated by images from those corresponding pages.
FastTrax navigation
Apart from the navigation bar that runs across the top of every page, there is on the product and industry pages, additional navigation on the left hand side called FastTrax:
Product Screen Tips
Within some of the product galleries you will find displayed on the product image, white crosses within a blue circle background. Clicking on these crosses will reveal additional information about the machine. Over the coming weeks more products will have these displayed.
Image galleries
Located through the website are various image galleries. A main image is displayed with a number of thumbnails below. A user can scroll through the gallery using the backwards and forwards buttons located on the main image or can click or scroll through the thumbnails.
Product filters
On some product section listings such as Hydraulic Excavators, there appears in the left had column a ‘Filter By’ facility. Dragging the white circles from either side, presents the user with a list of relevant machines for a particular weight range. The filter works from lightest to heaviest and vice versa. For some other machine types then different filter criteria are used. For example Wheel Loaders can be filtered by bucket capacity.
Further product information
On product pages below the product images, a list of headings is displayed. Clicking on a heading makes this area of the page expand to reveal additional information. Then clicking on another heading suppresses that information and expands another area instead.
